Uses of Carbon Fiber
2015-04-03 10:20:21

In fiber reinforced composites, fiberglass is the "work horse" of the industry. It is used in many applications and is very competitive with traditional materials such as wood, metal, and concrete.Fiberglass products are strong, light weight, non-conductive, and the raw material costs of fiberglass are very low.

In applications whrere ther is a premium for increased strength, low weight, or for cosmetics, then other more expensive reinforcing fibers are used in theFRP composite.

Carbon fibers are used where low weight, high stiffness, high conductivity, or where the look of the carbon fiber weave desired. Below are examples of where carbon fiber is comonly used.
